Medieval Korean History

Focuses on the political, economic, societal, and cultural aspects of the Koryo and Joseon Dynasties.

Koryo Period
Focuses on the political, economic, societal, and cultural aspects of the Koryo Dynasty during its whole period that spans from the end of the later Silla Dynasty to the demise of Koryo. (Prof. Jin-Han Lee)
Early Joseon Period
Focuses on the political, economic, societal, and cultural aspects of the Joseon Dynasty during its earlier half that spans from its rise (after the demise of Koryo) to the year 1952 when the Japanese Invasion (Imjinwaeran) occurred. (Prof. Jae Hoon Kang)
Late Joseon Period
Focuses on the political, economic, societal, and cultural aspects of the Joseon Dynasty during its later period that spans from the year 1592, when the Japanese Invasion (Imjinwaeran) occurred, to the year 1876 when the Treaty of Ganghwa was signed. (Prof. Yang-seop Song)

Modern and Contemporary Korean History

Focuses on the political, economic, societal, and cultural aspects of the part of Korean history that spans from its port-opening to contemporary period.
